Who hasn't experienced this? After a long day of cooking, the oven is full of grease and food residue, and the thought of cleaning it is anything but appealing. But there's good news: you don't need to resort to harsh chemical cleaners to make your oven shine like new again. With simple household remedies, you can clean your oven effectively and in an environmentally friendly way.

✔️A good example of this is salt. This natural abrasive is found in every household and is excellent for removing burnt-on food residue. Start by moistening the bottom of the oven and sprinkling it with a layer of salt. Then heat the oven to 50°C and let the salt sit for about 45 minutes, until it turns brown. After it cools, you can simply wipe away the grime with a damp cloth.

✔️Another tried-and-tested remedy is baking soda. This all-around household remedy effectively dissolves dirt and grease. Mix two packets of baking soda with about 100 ml of water to form a paste and apply it to the soiled areas in the oven. Let the paste work for about two hours, or for particularly stubborn encrustations, for 45 minutes at 100°C. Afterwards, you can wipe away the dirt with a damp cloth.

✔️Lemon juice is also an excellent oven cleaner. The natural acid helps to loosen grease and baked-on grime. Mix the juice of one lemon with water and pour this mixture into a baking dish. Place it in the oven and heat it to 120°C (250°F) for about an hour. The steam will loosen the grime, and after it cools, you can simply wipe the oven clean. The lemon juice also leaves a pleasant fragrance.

✔️Vinegar is another versatile home remedy that helps with oven cleaning. Mix vinegar with water and apply the mixture to the encrusted areas. Let it sit for a while, then wipe away the grime with a damp cloth. Vinegar is not only effective but also antibacterial, making it an ideal cleaning agent.

✔️However, if you own a new oven model with a pyrolytic cleaning function , you can of course use this to clean the oven. This method heats the oven to extremely high temperatures, causing the dirt to char and become easy to wipe away. Keep in mind, however, that this uses more energy and requires good ventilation.

Conclusion

In summary, cleaning your oven without chemicals is not only environmentally friendly but also effective. With these simple household remedies, you can quickly and easily restore your electric oven to a clean and hygienic condition.

My additional tip:
"Use aluminum foil to make future cleaning easier. Line the bottom of the oven with foil and change it regularly. This way you catch grease and splatters before they can burn on."
